How do I get him help considering the methadone clinic is supposed to be  a treatment program. He is my fiancee and I love him. He has a son that I am now the only mom he has known.

sweetheart what are u doing with this guy?

That is what happens with methadone. They are supposed to be decreasing his doses though, until he can quit the methadone. Also, make sure he isn’t going to more than one clinic, essentially doubling his dosing.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE

methadone used to be a replacement drug for heroin, cocaine, alcohol. It wasn’t until a few years ago the FDA found out that methadone was as much of an addiction as the previous drugs mentioned. It is also a street drug now. Complete rehab….(no drugs involved) would be the best solution.

I dont know if he has you down as someone they can talk to about his problem but if he does then you should talk to them. I too know someone who goes to one of those but I cant understand how he could be getting high from that. I mean, the person I know was only going for a pill addition but they dont get high off the stuff they give them. All I can really tell you is you cant help someone who wont help themselves. He obiviously likes getting high, right? He has got to want to change, without that thereis nothing you can do. Good luck!

don’t be afraid. im a recovering addict and for me the best thing that works is the 12 steps. Methadone is just a very harmful bandaid, and treatment is only a temp solution. best of luck to you.

Man that suks! Truly. Same thing happened to my hubby. You have to get him out of there! methodone is just as addictive if not more than actual narcs. my hubby went through a program in which they gave darvocet, vitamin b, claritin and another can’t remember now. I put him in a lockdown facility called Gateway (centrally located) he hated me, but came clean after 3 months. He had no choice. Tough Love I tell ya. 22 years married, he was addicted to Vicoprofin.. just like Vicodin but no tylenol..ibuprofin. Email me at trialbyjuryme if you ever need to talk, from one loving person to another, you have to place him somewhere where they give him NOTHING…he won’t die, he will fight it, but he won’t die in one of these programs..trust me. It’s not pretty, but it’s love, true heartache and true love for his life!

maybe you can ask him to admit himself to an addiction clinic…. to help him get clean, the type of place i am talking about is one where he goes in and stayes for at least a month, and they help him fight his addiction and help clear his system from the drugs… he needs a program that will get him away from the drugs, not one that gives him doses… withdrawl from drugs can be a nasty business, and it will be hard… really hard, probly one of the hardest things he will ever have to do… but if he won’t do it, then you should walk away from him, and stay away, and don’t go back unless he can prove to you that he is clean.

Try Methadone Detox and then a 12 Step program, if that doesn’t work, say goodbye because it will never change. Once you are strung out on heroin, you are a changed person, it’s so hard to forget the high. It can be done though, I’m living proof. Hope this helped!!

You may see it as him getting high, but he is actually managing his opiate addiction. Depending on his history, (duration of use and dosage amounts), the clinic may be his best option. Opiate addiction is a disease and methadone relieves the symptoms. Sometimes abstinence from opiates is not the answer, but controlled dosage w/ counseling is.
