Methadone Treatment
What are regarded treatments for polysubstance abuse?

Rehab program after rehab program after NA after discipline doesn’t work. Trying to think outside the box here. Rejected for medicine replacement/methadone since don’t have drug of choice. Looking into holistic treatment/naturopathy and acupuncture and alternative psychological therapy? Psychoanalysis? Rapid Eye trauma treatment, etc? Any ideas?
How long will he stay on methadone?

My cousin is 26 and I found out that he is taking methadone for a past addiction to pain killers. My question is how long would one need to take methadone? Forever? I understand that treatment differs for each person but is there a ballpark? 10 years, 15?

Why do you have to let the drug Subutex dissolve under the tongue rather than swallow like other pills?

The drug Subutex (and Suboxone) is used for treatment for opiate(narcotic) dependence; as is Methadone. However, with Methadone all one needs to do is swallow the pill, with Subutex and Suboxone it must be dissolved slowly under the tongue–sublingually. I was receantly perscribed these pain killers for the treatment of cronic pain, but would like to know more about them before I start using them. Would you know the side effects, and are they highly addictive, do they work well…Thank you.
